Edward TULLETT
(c1665-?)
and Martha MITCHELL (c1670-1707)

Edward Tullet
and Martha Mitchell married on 9 February 1691/2 in Ifield, Sussex.
Edward Tullett's
date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me. He may have been
the son of Edward Tullett and Ann who married before or
about 1660, or of
Peter Tullett and
Hester Shaw
who married in 1667. I think Edward may have farmed land in Slaugham
and that he died between 1729 and 1737. I also think that the Slaugham
lands where inherited by his possibly son Peter, but this is just
speculation on my part. An Edward Tulett was buried
on 27 February 1738/9 in Nuthurst, Sussex.
Martha Mitchell's
date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me (see
below). She may have been buried on 21 February 1706/7 in Horsham,
Sussex.
Edward Tullett and Martha Mitchell
had 1 known child:
-
Edward Tullet was baptised on 5 December 1692 in Ifield, Sussex,
at which time his parents were of Daybush.
Edward may have married Elizabeth Gillett on 9 February 1713 in Horley,
Surrey.
Edward and Elizabeth had the following children:
-
Martha Toolet was baptised on 7 April 1715 in Horley, Surrey.
-
Elizabeth Toolet was baptised on 13 December 1717 in Horley.
-
Ann Toolett was baptised on 10 February 1720 in Horley. She
married Thomas Laker on 22 September 1740 in Horley.
-
Sarah Toolet was baptised on 31 December 1725 in Horley.
-
Edward Tullett
may have been part of this family. He married Mary
sometime before or about 1743. (They have their own page.)
Edward and Martha may also have been the parents of:
-
Peter Tullet
married
Elizabeth Gratwick on 3 November 1726 in Cowfold, Sussex.
(They have their own page.)
-
Mary Tullet married John Walder on 5 April 1730 in Ifield,
Sussex. But there was a
Mary
Toolet born in 1692 in Horsham, the daughter of
John Tullett
and Phillippa.

The IGI shows the following possible baptisms for Martha Mitchell:
-
Martha Michell was baptised on 20 October 1659 at St. John sub
Castro in Lewes, Sussex. She was the daughter of Lancelot Michell
and Anne Savage.
-
Martha Mitchel was baptised on 2 February 1670/1 in West Dean, near
Chichester, Sussex. She was the daughter of Roger Mitchel and
Anne West.
Neither of the above look promising to me. There is also the
possibility that Martha was a widow when she
married Edward.

TULLETT
