Richard STEDMAN (c1665-?)
and Jane WARD (1661-?)

Richard Stedman
and Jane Ward married on 26
October 1690 in Slaugham, Sussex. He was then of Cuckfield and she of
Horsham.
Richard Stedman's
date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.
A Richard Steadman of Cuckfield was buried on 26 April 1708 in
Slaugham.
Jane Ward may have been baptised on 25 April 1661 in Cuckfield,
Sussex and have been the daughter of George Ward.
Richard Stedman and
Ward Jane may have had the following children:
-
Ann Stedman was baptised in March 1691/2 in Slaugham.
Only her father's name was recorded in the baptism register and it was noted
that he was of Cuckfield.
-
Richard Steadman was baptised on 23 October 1698 in Slaugham.
Both his parents were named in the baptism register and it was noted that
his mother was of Cuckfield. Did he marry
Ann Tasker
by licence on 24 June 1728 at St. Annes, Lewes? Their marriage licence was issued on the same day by
the Archdeaconry of Lewes and noted that Richard was a carpenter of Cuckfield
and Ann was a spinster of Barcombe. Or did he marry
Ann Simmonds on 2
February 1732/3 in Ardingly, Sussex? At the time of their marriage Richard was of Slaugham and Ann of Ardingly.
Richard and Ann, nee Tasker named their
children: Ann, Richard, John, Sarah and William.
Richard and Ann, nee Simmonds named their children: Ann, Richard, Thomas and Martha.
