My Snashall Ancestors

A 4x Great Grandmother was Hannah Snashall who married Richard Hoadley in 1788 in Henfield, Sussex.  She was born in 1763 in Henfield and was the daughter of Thomas Snashall and Ann Norman, who had married in Henfield in 1745.

Hannah's elder sister, Elizabeth Snashall, may have been my 6x Great Grandmother.  She was born in Henfield in 1746 and first married John Trusler in 1769.

Many thanks to Sarah Perrin for passing on the following:

The Snashalls arrived in Sussex in the 16th Century.  It seems they came from Normandy originally and settled in the Sussex Weald where they were involved in iron smelting.  The name Snashall derives from the Norman French 'Seneschal'.
