The Will of
William SAYERS
(1695-1713)

In the Name of God Amen I
WILLIAM SAYERS
of PULBOROUGH in the County of SUSSEX yeoman being sick & weak in Body but
of perfect mind & memory Thanks be to Almighty God for the same calling to
mind the certainty of my Death & the uncertainty of the time when doe here
make & ordaine this my last Will & Testament in manner & Forme following
First I bequeath my soul into the Hands of Almighty God trusting in &
through the Merits of Jesus Christ my Saviour and Redeemer & my Body to be
buried in Christian Burial and as to my temporal Estate I dispose thereof as
followeth Whereas my late dear Father have in his last Will & Testament
given & bequeathed to me a Legacy of One Hundred pounds as in & by the said
last Will & Testament bearing date the Seventeenth day of this Instant
JANUARY more plain appeareth Item I doe here give Will & bequeath to my
Brother THOMAS SAYRES the Full Sume of Twenty pounds part
of my said Legacy Item I give & bequeath to my Brother JOHN SAYRES
Twenty Shillings to buy him a Ring Item all the rest of my legacy & all
other my goods & personal Estate I give & bequeath to my Brother
EDMUND SAYRES And I doe here make my Brother EDMUND
SAYRES sole Executor of this my last Will & Testament And I doe
here will & desire that the Lord of the Manor of NUTBORNE would be pleased
to lett my Brother EDMUND SAYRES be fined & admitted into
my Copyhold after me And then I do here will & give Four score pounds of
my Legacy to my Brother THOMAS & but Twenty to my Executor
In Witness whereof I have unto this my last Will & Testament set my hand &
Seal this Two & Twentieth day of JANUARY Anno Domini 1713 WILLIAM
SAYRES sealed and delivered by the said Testator in the presence if
us EDMUND SAYRES, EDMUND NORMAN,
SUSAN BENNETT
[Proved 25 MAY 1721 by EDMUND SAYRES brother of the
deceased]
