The Will of

Edmund SAYERS (c1585-1652)

In the name of God amen the Fifteenth of  JUNE in the yeare of our lord God 1648 I EDMUND SAYERS of  PULBOROUGH in the County of Sussex Yeoman being stricken in age but in perfect bodyly health thankes be given unto God therefore now Calling to minde the mortality of all men & revokeing all other wills doe ordayne & make this my last will & testament in manner & forme as followeth. First I Commend my soule into the handes of Almighty God Trusting in and through Jesus Christ my saviour to have pardon & forgiveness of all my sinnes & my body to be decently buryed at the discretion of my Executor hereafter mentioned. Item I give unto ANN my eldest daughter Five shillings to be payd within one month after my decease Item I give unto THOMAS NORMAN sonne of my eldest daughter Forty shillings to be payd within one moneth after my decease. Item I give unto MILDRY my daughter Five shillings to be payd within one moneth after my decease Item I give unto JOHN BROOKER sonne of the sayd MILDRY Forty shillings to be paid within one moneth after my decease. Item I give unto MARY my youngest daughter Fifty pounds to be paid unto her within six moneths after my decease. Item all the rest of my goods & Chattells I give unto unto EDMUND my sonne whome I make whole Executor of this my last will & testament he dischargeing my fuerall & paying my debts & legacyes I appoynt FRANCIS WELLS of ARUNDELL & THOMAS SAYERS of  PULBOROUGH my beloved Friends to be Overseers of this my last Will & testament  & to have their Charges borne by my Executor      EDMUND SAYRES his marke   Witness hereunto WILIAM TURNER   THOMAS SAYRES   This will was proved at SUTTON ... the third day of AUGUST 1652 by the oath of EDMUND SAYERS sonne of the sayd deceased & Executor ...
