Please bear this in mind when you contact me, as I can not always remember what I've said where.  It would be really helpful if you could tell me the page title or URL you are contacting me about.

Family History is my hobby.  I am not a professional genealogist.

Thank you for taking the time to view my humble effort.  Also, a very BIG THANK YOU to all those who have kindly contributed information.

The NOAKES Family of Sussex

So far, I do not have any known Noakes ancestors of my own, but a couple of convoluted links.

My Interest in the Noakes Families

So far the earliest encounter I have with the Noakes family is via Lydia Noakes (1678-?) who married Robert Swift (1677-?) in 1702 in Wadhurst, Sussex.  Lydia was the daughter of Thomas Noakes (1641-1688) and Elizabeth Fuller (?-1705).  Robert, according to my Legacy software, was my 8th Great Grand Uncle.

Robert Swift's Grand Nephew (through the Swift line) was Samuel Swift (1748-?) and he married Mary Noakes (1754-1834) in 1779 in Wadhurst.  Mary Noakes (through the Noakes line) was the Grand Niece of Lydia Noakes (1678-?).  Mary was the daughter of William Noakes (1718-1804) and Elizabeth Noakes (1724-1791).  (Samuel, according my Legacy software, was my 1st cousin 8x removed.)

Please also search this site for other Noakes's, as some have been named as witnesses, whilst others are connected to my ancestors through even more convoluted links than the above mentioned.
