The Will of

Peter LILLIOT (1700-1772)


In the Name of God Amen I Peter Lilliot of Ashington in the County of Sussex Yeoman Do make this my last Will and Testament this Third day of August 1772 in manner and form following In the first place I give unto my wife Elizabeth Lilliot Thirty Pounds a year to be paid her by my Executor hereunder named on her giving up her Rights ot my Lands & House or otherwise Ten Pounds a Year for & during her natural Life Also to my Son in Law John Somersell of Horsham I give and bequeath Two hundred pounds to be paid him by my Executor within Twelve Montsh after my Decease Also I give & bequeath to his wife Catherine Somersell Twelve pounds a year for and during her natural Life Also I give and bequeath to their children Mary Sarah & Ann One hundred pounds each to be paid at their respective & several ages of One & Twenty Also I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Mary wife of John Carter of Ashurt Twelve pounds a year for & during her natural life Also I give & bequeath to their children James John Mary Peter & William One hundred pounds each to be paid at their respective & several Ages of One & Twenty Also I give and bequeath unto my said wife Elizabeth Lilliot what part of my household Goods she shall [---] All the rest & residue of my Lands Houses and Chattles I give devise and bequeath unto my Son in Law John Carter of Ashurst aforesaid whom I hereby make & constitute whole & sole Executor of this my last will & Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seal the Day & year above written The Mark of Peter Lilliot Signed Sealed published & Declared to be the last Will & Testament of the above mentioned Peter Lilliot in the presence of John Penfold ~ Sarah Sayrs The Mark of Mary Lilliot

This Will was proved before Mr Richard Tireman Clerk Master of Arts Surrogate ~ On the Seventeenth day of September in the Year of our Lord 1772 By the Oath of John Carter Son in Law of the Deced and the sole Executor thereinnamed To whom ~ well and truley sworn saving...
