The Will of

Samuel HENTY (?-1774)

I Samuel Henty of Rustington in the County of Sussex yeoman being of perfect Sound Mind Memory and understanding do make and Declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following~ Whereas I have Duly Surrendered into the Hands of the Lord of the manor of Rustington West Court All that my Customary or Copyhold Messuage or Tenement Lands and Premises With the Appurtenances called Bennetts and Mews Containing fforty Acres (more or less) Situate Lying and being in Rustington aforesaid And Also all that my Customary or Copyhold Messuage or Tenements Lands and Premises with the Appurtenances holden of the said Manor called pannetts Containing about fifteen Acres of Land be the same ore or less Lying and being in Rustington aforesaid And Also all those several pieces or parcells of Copyhold Lands holden of the said manor called .... with their Appurtenances Containing by Estimation ffourteen Acres of Land be the same more or less Lying and being in Rustington aforesaid To such Uses Intents and Purposes as I should in and by my last Will and Testament in Writing Direct and Appoint Now I do by this my last Will and Testament Give and devise all and singular the said Several Copyhold Messuages tenements Lands Hereditaments and premises with their and every one of their Appurtenances And Also all other my Copyhold Messuages or Tenements Whatsoever and Wheresoever unto my Son Samuel Henty To Hold the same unto my Son Samuel Henty and his Heirs and Assigns for ever Chargeable as hereinafter is mentioned Also I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah Henty the Sum of One Hundred and Eighty Pounds of Lawfull money of Great Britain to be paid her by my Executor hereinafter named in such manner as is hereinafter mentioned(that is to say) the sum of Eighty Pounds part thereof Within Six months next after my Decease and the residue and remaining Sum of One Hundred Pounds Within Eighteen Months next after my Decease Also I give and bequeath All my Linnen and Pewter of all Sorts Whatsoever or Wheresoever unto my Three Children Samuel Henty Sarah Henty and Ann Elliott to be equally divided between them Share and Share alike Also my Household goods and clock now remaining and being in my dwelling house in Rustington aforesaid I give and bequeath unto my said Daughter Sarah Henty together with all Debts due to her or to me on the Shop account Also it is my request that my said Daughter Sarah Henty shall and may live in the Messuage or Tenement and Premises wherein I now dwell rent free during the Term of her Natural Life but if my said Son Samuel Henty should turn her out of the said house and Premises she should .... where to Live I then give her the sum of Three Pounds a Year of Lawfull Money of Great Britain to be paid her yearly and every year during the Term of her Natural Life by my Executors hereinafter named And I do hereby Charge All my Copyhold Messuage or Tenements Lands and Premises aforesaid with the Legacies......And all the rest and residue of my Goods Chattles and Personal Estate whatsoever (my Debts and ffunerall Expences being first paid and satisfied) I give and bequeath unto my Son Samuel Henty whom I make Nominate and Appoint full and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament And I appoint my Cousin William Henty of Littlehampton in the said County yeoman and John Edmonds of Angmering in the said County Butcher Trustees and I do desire they will see the same performed according to the true Intent and meaning of the same In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the seventeenth Day of April In the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Two S Henty
