Thomas DENMAN (1601-1670)

and Joan COGGER (c1605-1641)

 

Thomas Denman and Joan Cogger may have been my 9x Great Grandparents.  (Click here to see their possibly place in my pedigree chart.)  They married on 1 February 1628/9 in Shermanbury, Sussex.

Thomas Denman was baptised on 21 May 1601 in Hurstpierpoint, Sussex.  He was the son of William Denman and Agnes Barrett (1571-?).  He may have been buried on 12 February 1670 in Shermanbury, but the burial register only records that Thomas Denman was buried.

Joan Cogger's date and place of birth/baptism are unknown, to me.  She was buried on 8 February 1641 in Shermanbury and the burial register recorded that she was Joane the wife of Thomas Denman.

The Shermanbury parish registers between 1641 and 1653 are missing.

 

Thomas Denman and Joan Cogger had 4 known children:

  1. John Denman was baptised on 8 November 1629 in Shermanbury.  Only his father's name appeared in the baptism register.

  2. Thomas Denman was baptised on 10 March 1632/2 in Shermanbury.  Only his father's name appeared in the baptism register.  He may have been buried on 20 December 1691 in Shermanbury, as Thomas Denman, senior.

  3. William Denman, my possible 8x Great Grandfather, was baptised on 25 April 1636 in Shermanbury.  He married Susan Godsmark in 1672.  (They have their own page.)

  4. Isaac Denman was baptised on 31 March 1639 in Shermanbury and buried there on 14 June 1639.

 

COGGER          DENMAN
