The Will of
John Comber
(c1710-1803)

This is the last
will and testament of me John Comber of Nuthurst in the
county of Sussex, farmer touching the disposition of my temporal estate
wherewith it has pleased God to bless me as follows (that is to say) First I
will order and direct that all my just debts funeral expenses and expenses
of proving this my will be fully paid and satisfied by my executor herein
after named Next I give and bequeath to my sons Stephen and
Peter Comber and my daughter Elizabeth the
wife of Thomas Woodham of Carton in the County of Surrey
farmer the sum of forty pounds apiece Also I give and bequeath unto my sons
Thomas John and Henry Comber
and Mary the wife of William Mitchell the
sum of twenty pounds apiece and it is my will and meaning that the said
legacy of forty pounds which I have hereinbefore given and bequeathed to my
son Peter Comber shall be paid in such parts and
proportions and at such times as my executor in his discretion shall think
proper and that the said several other legacies shall be paid unto the said
respective legatees within twelve months next after my decease by my said
executor and all the rest residue and remainder of my estate and effects
whatsoever and wheresoever and what nature or kind the same may be which I
shall die seized possessed of or entitled unto I give and bequeath the same
and every part thereof to my son Richard Comber his
executor administrator and assigns whom I do nominate constitute and appoint
sole executor of this my will hereby revoking and annulling and making void
all former and other will and wills by me at any time heretofore made and
declaring this only to be and contain my last will and testament In witness
where I hereunto set my hand and seal this seventh day of September in the
year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven John
Comber Signed sealed published and declared by the said Testator
John Comber for his last will and testament in presence of
us who have hereunder set our hands as witnesses at his bequest in his
presence and the presence of each other John Nash D Stedman
The will was proved
before Mr William Jameson Clerk surrogate on the 29 day of
Oct 1803 by the Oath of Mr Richard Comber the sole executor
named therein so whom to well and truly sworn
